As the first rescue dog in the White House, US President-elect Joe Biden ‘s dog, Major, will soon make history. Under Donald Trump, the White House was a pet-free zone, but all that is expected to change come January, as Joe Biden, 77, and his wife take up residence there.
While several presidents have taken their pets to the White House, WHDH-TV claims that Major would be the first animal from an animal rescue shelter to live there.
In 2018, Mr Biden adopted Major, a German shepherd. He will be accompanied by Champ, Joe Biden’s other dog, at the US President’s official residence.(Who during the Obama administration had already embraced the comforts of the White House)
During the 2020 campaign, Joe Biden urged American voters through a series of social media posts to “Put dogs back in the White House”.
The Bidens adopted Major in 2018, after fostering the German shepherd, according to Sky News.After Mr Biden ‘s daughter Ashley saw a Facebook post about a litter of puppies at the Delaware Humane Association animal shelter needing homes, they came across the dog.
