Ann Coulter Faces Backlash After Mocking Emotional Moment of Tim Walz’s 17-Year-Old Son
Ann Coulter sparks controversy with a post mocking Tim Walz’s 17-year-old son, Gus, leading to swift online backlash as supporters defend the teenager’s emotional moment.
Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz, joined on stage by his wife Gwen, son Gus, and daughter Hope, posed for a photo together.
Ann Coulter sparked controversy by posting about Tim Walz’s son, leading to a swift backlash.
Although the conservative commentator deleted her post, it didn’t stop the flood of criticism online.
The image of Tim Walz’s 17-year-old son, Gus, proudly shedding tears during his father’s vice-presidential nomination acceptance speech became a heartwarming highlight of the convention.
That was until social media took its inevitable turn.
Ann Coulter shared a post on X featuring a photo of Gus in tears, captioned with, “Talk about weird…”
The online response was immediate and cutting.
Tommy Vietor, a former Obama staffer and now liberal podcaster, responded, “I can see why a child loving their parents would feel foreign to you.”
Many pointed out the harshness of Coulter’s remark, especially since Gus’s parents had previously shared with People magazine that their son has a nonverbal learning disorder, ADHD, and an anxiety disorder.
Shannon Watts, the founder of Moms Demand Action and Everytown, shared her own experience, writing, “I am neurodivergent. At 14, I was diagnosed with ADHD, OCD, and several learning disorders, including dyscalculia. We’re not weird; we’re wonderful. We’re your family, friends, and fellow Americans.”
As a result, Coulter, Gus Walz, and the phrase “He’s 17” became trending topics on X. Despite Coulter deleting her post, the online backlash continues.
